Fine Italian violin by The Brothers Amati, Cremona, dated 1631

£120,000.00

We are delighted to be able to show this fine Italian violin by Antonius & Hieronymus Amati of Cremona as shown by the label it bears, dated 1631. The table, which was made for the violin by a member of the Gagliano family, is of medium grained spruce. The back is made from two pieces of handsome quarter-cut maple with a medium narrow curl ascending from left to right. The scroll, of Italian origin, is maple.
The violin, which has been in the ownership of an international, professional player has just come down from our workshops and is presented in stunning condition. It plays so easily, with a warm but open and powerful sound, and comes with a certificate of authenticity from the famous Chicago experts, Bein & Fushi Inc.
Please feel free to contact us at any time with enquiries about the violin or simply pop in to take the opportunity to put a bow across it.
